Banish the Balcony Blues

The Bargain Queen has an article published in Digs Magazine!

It's called Banish the Balcony Blues and it's all about gardening in small, rented spaces. If you'd like a gorgeous garden but don't have space, money or a lot of gardening expertise, take a look.

I loved your article so much, I'll even share my super secret cheap gardening tip with you:
Towards the end of each season, or the day right before church holidays, I go to the cemetery. My city has several big cemeteries that are rather like parks, where people go for a walk in the afternoon, and the graves are still tended by family or friends who regularly throw away plants that are "out of season", i.e. not blooming anymore or not considered right for that time of year, or just not "perfect" enough for an immaculate grave.
I rescue those poor little things from a slow death in the compost containers and take them home with me. A month later they're back in bloom, and my balcony looks like I spent 100$ on it. I even give some of the recovered plants away because there's just so many.
An added bonus is the funny looks people give you when you take plants OUT of the container instead of putting them in, plus the nice talks that develop as you explain to them what you're doing.

That's an, erm, interesting tip faywray. I'd feel very weird taking anything from a cemetary!
